Former Gaming exec to head up marketing for music industry insider and guitar lesson innovator, WorkshopLive.com.
Pittsfield, MA (PRWEB) April 11, 2008 -- WorkshopLive.com, the online music education company and affiliate of National Guitar Workshop, named Robert A. Land to the newly created position of Chief Marketing Officer. The announcement was made earlier today by WorkshopLive's Board of Directors at their headquarters in Pittsfield, MA .
"We're thrilled to have Bob join us at such a critical juncture in our company's evolution", said David Smolover, President and CEO of WorkshopLive. "The current CD sales crisis in the music industry has performing artists, their labels and even retailers coming to us to help connect them in non-traditional ways to their fan base and customers. We have relationships spanning some 20+ years with folks like Fender, Roland, Ovation and Yamaha so we have the content available to make those new connections. Bob certainly has the vision and experience in building and re-inventing online businesses so I'm confident we'll delight these new customers as much as our existing base."
Bob has more than 14 years experience in marketing, advertising, business development and sales. Prior to joining WorkshopLive.com, he was a marketing executive at Cambridge Interactive, part of GigaMedia, where his primary client was one of Europe's top online casinos and poker rooms, Everest Gaming. He is credited with developing and launching the Everest Affiliates brand, which was largely responsible for acquiring the lions share of their 2 million player database.
"I'm excited that David and the board have trusted me with this opportunity." Bob adds, "The Guitar HeroTM phenomenon has created a groundswell of interest to learn to play the guitar and WorkshopLive.com is perfectly positioned to give those budding players 'real' lessons in the entertaining setting they have come to expect."
Prior to Cambridge Interactive, Bob was a senior strategy advisor for many of the top retailers on Commission Junction, the affiliate network of ValueClick where he was intimately involved with the launch and ramp-up of some of the largest affiliate programs in the history of this type of marketing including those of Priceline.com, The Home Depot, Circuit City, Staples, Sony Style and many more. He has also held marketing posts at CVS/pharmacy, Polaroid and Lids.com.
Bob holds a B.S. in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is a regular speaker on the subject of online and affiliate marketing in the US and Europe. He is also the owner and publisher of the affiliate marketing insiders blog, AffiliateBob (www.affiliatebob.com/blog). LinkedIn profile: www.linkedin.com/in/bobland
