BigOven.com Adds FriendFeed to its Social Network about Food

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

BigOven's new FriendFeed integration automatically alerts friends and family when recipes, photos, cooking videos are posted to cooking community, when a recipe is rated highly, or when BigOven.com cooks receive medals from other members.

Seattle (PRWEB) April 7, 2008 -- BigOven.com, a rapidly growing social network about food with nearly 100,000 registered members, announces the free beta availability of FriendFeed™ integration. BigOven.com is the first cooking-related site to support the new FriendFeed application programming interface (API). FriendFeed, started by ex-Google employees, is a new social-network aggregation service that allows anyone to broadcast a "stream" of their activity to others, and watch streams of activity of friends and family.

When you join BigOven.com, you can optionally have FriendFeed automatically publish notices to your friends when you:

  • Rate a recipe highly
  • Share a recipe on the site
  • Post a photograph of a recipe
  • Post a cooking video
  • Receive a "BigOven Medal" from anyone in the community
You can subscribe to your friend and family's FriendFeed, providing you a single, near-real-time view of food they like, and recipe photo and videos they share. The new service is ideal for food bloggers, who can immediately share with their readers the recipes they love.

BigOven.com, like food itself, is all about sharing. Our new FriendFeed integration, now in beta, makes it effortless people to see the dishes that friends and family like to eat and share with others. It's a great example of the interconnectedness of services we'll be seeing a lot more of on the Web.
