Christina Jones Short Listed For The Melissa Nathan Awards For Comedy Romance 2008

Manchester, Greater Manchester (PRWEB) May 6, 2008 -- Former Writers Bureau student, Christina Jones, joins Stephen Clarke, Victoria Clayton, Lisa Jewell, Olivia Lichtenstein & Fiona Neill on the short list for The Melissa Nathan Awards for Comedy Romance. The winning author will be presented with a cheque for £5,000 at a fun-filled London ceremony on June 18th.

The judging panel features the writer and comedienne Jo Brand, mega-selling novelists Joanna Trollope OBE and Sophie Kinsella, comedy actors Jessica Hynes and Alan Davies and Tesco's Head Book Buyer, Gaynor Allen.

Genuinely delighted at the news that her book Heaven Sent has been chosen Christina said, "This is HUGE. The truly big one in the rom-com field - Marian Keyes won it last year. I can't believe it."

Christina recently piped Linda Gillard and Elizabeth Chadwick at the post to win the Pure Passion Award at a night full of fun, laughter and ladies in chiffon at Manchester Town Hall on 21st February 2008.

She is well known for her romantic comedies, such as Hubble Bubble and Heaven Sent. Her next novel, Happy Birthday, will be out in August 2008 published by Piatkus Books.

Christina's writing career blossomed after taking The Writers Bureau Comprehensive Creative Writing Course. Not only does she write romantic novels but also writes regularly for magazines.
