Faunbrook Bed and Breakfast supported a fundraising event by Nicole Marcum and Colby Martin for The Pink Babe team formed by Bronwyn L. Martin (Martin and Martin are not related). Martin's team is racing May 11 in Philadelphia for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Race for the Cure.

West Chester, PA (PRWEB) May 3, 2008 -- Lori and Steve Zytkowicz, the new owners of the Faunbrook Bed and Breakfast in West Chester, PA, proudly supported a fundraising event by Nicole Marcum, president, and Colby Martin, CEO, of The Colby Martin Team with Keller Williams Real Estate. The networking event was to introduce guests to the new owners of Faunbrook and to raise money for The Pink Babe team and breast cancer awareness.

The Pink Babe team was formed by Bronwyn Martin (not related to Colby Martin) who is an Ameriprise-associated financial advisor, in honor of her office manager 'Babe' who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Prior to the May 3 evening's networking event over $3,500 had been raised for The Pink Babe team. The Team is made up of many walkers and runners that will participate May 11 in the Philadelphia Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure(R). Martin has been getting teams together over the past 5 years through the organization Chester County Women (CCW) that she started in 2003. Martin, who stepped down as president of CCW in 2007, still believes in the importance of highlighting the issues of women and children in the community and this year it became more important to her to raise awareness about breast cancer to her friends, colleagues, clients, and Kennett Square Rotary Club members where Martin is Secretary.

"I have gotten tremendous support this year and it's just awesome that so many are donating money for The Pink Babe team despite many people feeling a pinch due to the current economic slump. It just goes to show how many people think that 'Babe' is a wonderful person and that breast cancer awareness and breast cancer eradication is an important issue to them." Marcum & C. Martin came up with the idea to use the networking event to raise money for The Pink Babe team and the Zytkowicz's were delighted that the Colby Martin Team chose the Faunbrook B&B as the location for the event. "We've known Bronwyn for a long time and she's always doing things to help others. We're excited that we could support both Bronwyn's endeavors and breast cancer awareness," Marcum stated.

Food was provided by Carlinos of West Chester. Carlinos also support the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer organization. Interestingly, if the genetic marker for breast cancer is found in a breast cancer patient it may be recommended to the breast cancer survivor to undergo a hysterectomy to prevent ovarian cancer. In 2 of the 4 years of Martin's tenure as president of CCW over $17,000 was raised for the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer organization. "The SROCF was chosen because it is a grass roots organization that supports awareness of ovarian cancer. One of my board member's mother had passed away at a relatively young age from ovarian cancer and we all agreed that we should support Robin Cohen and Adriana Way in their on-going efforts on ovarian cancer awareness."
