To Win a No-Limit Hold'em Poker Tournament: Don't Look at Your Cards

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

The first reference book for no-limit, hold'em poker tournaments reviews 101 winning moves and one of them is the "no-look" blind steal where you don't even look at your cards. Tournament Poker: 101 Winning Moves has one hundred more plays used by the poker experts.

Mill Valley, CA (PRWEB) March 7, 2008 -- If you've ever played in a no-limit hold'em poker tournament you know that you can go a long time before getting good cards. As you wait and wait, your chips stack keeps getting lower and lower as the blinds and antes increase. What should you do?

Don't let your lousy cards ruin a smart play. Tournament Poker: 101 Winning Moves explains that if your chips drop below fifteen times the big blind you need to make a move. The "no-look" blind steal is when you are in a late position and everyone folds to you. Rather than looking at your cards, just raise to steal the blinds.

Finally, I said 'I'm not an idiot, of course I looked.' Yeah, he folded, but from then on whenever I make this move I just pretend to look at my cards.
Does this play work? Absolutely! Just don't get caught...

"I used this move and raised the blinds. To my shock the player in the big blind called me out and said, 'You didn't look at your cards.' I was taken aback," explains Mitchell Cogert, the author of Tournament Poker: 101 Winning Moves.

"Of course the best course of action is to ignore and then deny. Which I did," continues Mitchell. "But my opponent wouldn't let go. When the flop cards hit the table and my opponent checked, I resisted the temptation of looking at my cards and just bet. My opponent wouldn't fold. He just kept looking at me maybe thinking I was going to confess."

"Finally, I said 'I'm not an idiot, of course I looked.' Yeah, he folded, but from then on whenever I make this move I just pretend to look at my cards."

In Tournament Poker: 101 Winning Moves, Mitchell conducted a search of almost 20 years worth of poker materials to compile the first reference book for no-limit, hold'em poker tournaments with one hundred and one moves used by the experts. And he includes a few interesting stories of his heads-up battles against the top poker pros. And poker players love the book:

"I have read over thirty poker books in my life and I can honestly say that this is the most important one of them all. I only wish I could have read this sooner!" -- Dayton2Vegas.com

"I just wanted to say that your book is SUPERB! Even after reading Harrington and Sklanksy, I wasn't very good. Your book showed me the way. I now play a very aggressive game and it works. People at the local casinos tell me I play like Gus Hansen, which is never a bad thing."     -- Jules Carter

Tournament Poker: 101 Winning Moves is an invaluable reference book for the poker player who wants to know what the poker pros know and strives to be a winner. The book is comprehensive and easy to understand with moves for pre-flop, flop, turn, river and heads-up play. The e-book is available today and the paperback will be available later this month on amazon.

The book is written by Mitchell Cogert a successful strategist to Fortune 500 companies and author of Play Razz Poker to Win. A series of video No-Limit Poker Tournament Quizzes will highlight a few key moves in the book. For media information go to www.apokerexpert.com.
