Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 8th, 2008 -- Today the Emergency Preparedness announced the re-launch of The Preparedness Report -- a new media radio program for Emergency Managers. Co-hosted by Norris Beren, a 20 year veteran of the preparedness field and Brian Silva, President of the IAEM Student Region, the weekly program is aimed at exploring "next" practices in the emergency management field and connecting experienced emergency managers to the emerging generation of professionals coming into the field.

"The Emergency management field is evolving rapidly and a new crop of people and ideas are moving into the profession," said Norris Beren, Executive Director of the Emergency Preparedness Institute. "There is a need and an opportunity to combine the best practices, insights and experiences of the past with the next practices and innovative approaches of the future. Our goal is to help build a bridge between the past and the future," said Beren.

Each week Silva and Beren invite emergency management professionals to engage in a cross generational discussion about timely preparedness issues. The premier segment explores "Cross - Jurisdictional Emergency Management." Lyn Gross, President of the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Region Ten joined Silva and Beren to talk about the benefits and challenges of setting up a single emergency management coordinating agency for multiple cities.

"Our goal is not to limit ourselves to the topics that immediately come to mind within the emergency management field," commented Silva. "We will also explore new and emerging ideas that are not always immediately associated with the work we do as emergency managers, but in reality are extraordinarily important."

The program can be heard on line at www.getprepared.org or downloaded to an iPod for listening on the go. A new segment is added each week and past programs will be archived in a searchable data base. The program concept was developed by Jackstreet Media, is produced by Emmy-winning broadcaster Errol Smith and is distributed through the Affiliate Nanocasting Network. The program may also be downloaded from iTunes at http://www.itunes.com/podcast?id=74838109

About EPI
The Emergency Preparedness Institute (EPI), www.getprepared.org, was formed in 2001 in response to increasing evidence that the nature and frequency of potential disasters had changed. EPI was founded on the belief that traditional thinking about emergency preparedness, emergency management and disaster recovery may be ill adapted to the new realities.

Believing that these new realities demand new strategies, EPI's mission is to explore, uncover and spread the most effective "emerging" strategies and practices for saving lives and property during an emergency or disaster. Beyond simply collecting and disseminating the current "best practices" of the industry, EPI is vigorously engaged in discovering the "next" practices that will advance the discipline of emergency management in communities, businesses, and families. The Institute is located in Mt. Prospect, Illinois.
