Life Insurance Site Promotes Disability Insurance Awareness Month

PlatinumInsurance.info, a Web site that specializes in the life insurance industry, is promoting awareness about various types of insurance during Disability Insurance Awareness Month.

Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) May 8, 2008 -- May is Disability Insurance Awareness Month, and PlatinumInsurance.info is promoting awareness about the importance of having life insurance in case you are injured, or worse. According to a recent Harris Interactive survey, many Americans would more than likely be forced to tap into their retirement savings accounts if they were to become disabled. When consumers have a universal life insurance policy, however, they and their families will have a safety net even after injury or death.

Out of the 1,000 respondents in the recent survey, 61 percent said they would likely tap into their retirement savings to fulfill their financial obligations in the case of a disability. The United States Social Security Administration reported in its December 2007 Fact Sheet, however, that three in every ten of today's 20-year-olds will become disabled before reaching age 67. Without some form of insurance, whether it is disability income insurance or a life insurance policy, all of these individuals will be left unable to provide for themselves and their families.

Some people use universal life insurance as a savings account because they can withdraw money whenever they want, such as if they become disabled and need the income. With a universal life insurance, policy holders can set the difference between the death benefit and the cash value accumulation. They can decide how much money will go to each section and make changes in their life insurance, an option that isn't available in most cases. The policy holder can decrease and increase the amounts from the death benefit or the cash value account. If they don't put back the money that they take from their cash value account, the death benefit amount will be decreased.

PlatinumInsurance.info is promoting this type of life insurance policy during Disability Insurance Awareness Month. Not only does it provide life insurance, but policy holders can even use it to provide income after becoming disabled.
