Independent Testing and Trials of Cavolution's BIOMEER-D Fuel Additive Shows Increase in Fuel Economy of 19% for Diesel Engines

Cavolution achieves a 19% increase in diesel fuel economy in a recently completed independent testing and trial of its BIOMEER-D additive for Diesel Engines.

Vancouver, B.C. (PRWEB) May 15, 2008 -- Cavolution Advanced Fuels recently completed Stage 3 Trials of its BIOMEER-D additive for Diesel Engines with Canadian Diesel and 1% BIOMEER-D in light vehicles (less than 5 tonnes). The average increase in fuel economy achieved was 19%.

SGS Laboratories (www.ca.sgs.com) of Montreal carried out independent lab analysis of the Lubricity of diesel fuel containing 1% BIOMEERTM-D using the industry standard ASTM D 6079 method. The measure for lubricity is Wear Scar Diameter (WSD).

Untreated ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel) has a WSD greater than 600 µm, too high to be safely used in diesel engines. All diesel suppliers must treat ULSD with lubricants before sale.

Husky Diesel Max, arguably the most lubricative diesel available, as tested by SGS, has a WSD of 400 µm, well below the North American maximum allowable of 520 µm.

Husky Diesel Max containing 1% BIOMEERTM-D, as tested by SGS, has a WSD of 160 µm. A graphical representation of comparative data results follows below.

"This result is a significant leap forward in reducing engine wear and energy loss to friction in diesel engines" commented Dave Davies of Cavolution, "BIOMEERTM-D optimizes the engines abilty to use energy in diesel fuels, the result is increased fuel economy, increased engine life and cost savings to our customers".

BIOMEER-D has now entered production and will be available to customers early in June. To participate in beta trials of BIOMEER-D in heavy vehicles, marine applications or power generation applications contact Cavolution.
