New Guide to Church Renewal Will Boost Membership Retention

Book's fact-finding model exposes leaders to biblical principles

Longwood, FL (PRWEB) May 17, 2008 -- The need for a practical, comprehensive guide for church renewal could never be more real than at this time when so many churches are struggling for survival. That need is met in Xulon author Reverend Dr. Albert W. Dock's new release, Keeping Members in the Church: A Model That Works (paperback, 978-1-60647-042-8). As the name suggests, this book provides readers with a workable, fact-finding model that will work to expose leaders to biblical principles needed in order to retain newcomers in the church. While emphasis has previously been placed on the role of the pastor in winning souls and filling the pews of the church, this work adds a new dimension by highlighting the role of the existing membership and leaders in evangelism and offering tips for retention of those who come through the doors of the church.

Dock, a divinely called preacher, teacher, and evangelist, says, "Readers will gain from reading this book that the problem of revolving door membership must be seen as a theological issue. Hopefully (they will understand) the church needs to take a fresh look at the issue of members joining churches but not remaining. Membership retention ought to be about the church doing everything in their power of turning the kingdom of this world into the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ."

This must-read book was based on a case study conducted by Dock and submitted to the faculty at Palmer Theological Seminary in candidacy for the degree of Doctor of Ministry. After being awarded this degree in May 2007, the author felt he needed to take his message to a broader audience. "(These) strategies were arrived at through careful gathering of data and through meticulous evaluation and analysis of that data," he says.

Xulon Press, a part of Salem Communications Corporation, is the world's largest Christian publisher, with more than 5,000 titles published to date. Retailers may order Keeping Members in the Church through Ingram Book Company and/or Spring Arbor Book Distributors.
