Paterva (Pty) Ltd announces the release of Maltego Version 2.0, a data mining and visualization application that allows the user to mine and analyze data using open source intelligence. The product will be officially released on the 6th of May 2008.

Pretoria, South Africa (PRWEB) May 6, 2008 -- Paterva (Pty) Ltd is pleased to announce the release of Maltego version 2.0 -- the evolution of the highly acclaimed version 1.0. Maltego determines the relationships and real world links between people, companies, and organizations as well as Internet related infrastructure such as web sites, domains and IP addresses. These entities are linked using open data sources such as search engines, PGP key databases, social networks and DNS. It creates an easy to understand graphical presentation, visually demonstrating the interconnected links that allows the human analyst to make sense of enormous volumes of seemingly disconnected data. Maltego sorts results by relevance -- called entity weight. Entity weight takes the guessing out of information gathering - providing smarter, more workable results.

Maltego version 1 is currently being used by more than 5000 users in the security, forensics and law enforcement industries. To date more than 850 000 Maltego-assisted searches have conducted. Version 1 was awarded "best tool in the information gathering section 2007" by Security Database (security-database.com) towards the end of 2007.

Maltego Version 2 offers a lot more to the user than the previous version. The layout and navigation have been optimized for speed and usability and uses a commercial layout and graph library. More entities and 20 brand new transforms for even deeper searches have been added to the transform application server. Version 2 also pre-populates and pre-configures transforms and transform sets. Combined with a platform independent installer this makes the product easy to install and use. Version 2 allows you to save and load graphs, making it easy to go back to checkpoints during your investigation. Export of entities allows the user to import Maltego data into other databases.

Maltego can be adapted to the client's specific needs using custom entities and transforms that can be provided by Paterva. Combined with in depth training and on-site installation of transform application servers this offering can address the need of a large scale intelligence outfit.
