Chief Parenting Names Chief Mommy Officer Hall of Fame Honorees

Paula Deen, Sandra Day OConnor, Barbara Walters, J.K. Rowling, Meg Whitman and Nancy Pelosi among the 10 Successful Women and Exemplary Mothers inducted in the inaugural class celebrating the 100th anniversary of Mothers Day.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) May 7, 2008 -- In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Mother's Day, Chief Parenting announced its inaugural Chief Mommy Officer Hall of Fame inductees.

Honorees for the Chief Mommy Officer Hall of Fame Class of 2008 were chosen from a variety of professions and represent a diverse group of accomplished mothers. This year's inductees include 10 women who have achieved greatness in their respective careers, while simultaneously maintaining their roles as exemplary mothers.

Although only living American mothers are currently eligible to be inducted into the CMO Hall of Fame, one of this year's inaugural class members is an honorary "Global" inductee, recognizing the impact she has had on children and their parents around the world, especially in the United States.

Chief Parentings 2008 Chief Mommy Officer Hall of Fame inductees (in alphabetical order):

  • Paula Deen – With the help of her two dedicated sons, Deen turned the only $200 she had into a Southern home-style cooking empire.
  • Naomi Judd – A survivor of domestic abuse and welfare recipient, Momma Judd" would give the world two entertainment superstars—and earn industrys highest honors herself.
  • Nancy Lopez – Sandwiched between having three daughters, Lopez won 48 LPGA tournaments, including three LPGA Championships.
  • Carolyn Moseley Braun – Entering politics with her son still an infant, Moseley Braun became the first African-American woman to be elected to the U.S. Senate.
  • Indra Nooyi – An Indian immigrant who worked overnight shifts to pay Yale tuition, Nooyi raised two daughters working her way to the top of PepsiCo.
  • Sandra Day OConnor – Undeterred by a discriminatory legal profession, Justice OConnor would start her own law firm and raise three sons before being confirmed as the first woman appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
  • Nancy Pelosi – After raising five children, Rep. Pelosi rose to the highest ranks within her political party to become the first female Speaker of the House.
  • J.K. Rowling (Global Honoree) – Unemployed, suffering from depression and solely raising her infant daughter on state benefits, Rowling wrote a little book titled Harry Potter.
  • Barbara Walters – Entering a field known for its gender bias, Walters became the first female co-anchor of a network nightly newscast as the mom of an eight-year-old daughter.
  • Meg Whitman – Intrigued by an Internet start-up with just 30 employees, Whitman grew eBay into a $37 billion corporation with 15,000 employees worldwide.
