Universal Safety Response (USR) achieves milestone while providing the U.S. Military in Iraq with mobile vehicle barriers to help protect troops against terrorist attacks.

Franklin, TN (PRWEB) May 15, 2008 -- In May 2007, the U.S. Air Force approved the use of Universal Safety Response's Xtreme Mobile Barrier upon the completion of operational field testing. This resulted in the installation of the first XMB barriers at a vehicle check point in Iraq. Now, one year later, multiple vehicle barriers are in place protecting United States Armed Forces despite the challenges of a harsh desert environment and the evolving dynamics of the theater.

Powered by a standard 12V car battery, the XMB is easily assembled by two people in 15 minutes and then anchored to a variety of readily available structures and equipment such as Humvees, concrete jersey barriers or fixed concrete structures. Safe to operate and easy to maintain, the XMB has been successfully installed, operated and redeployed by several Air Force units with the aid of only a manual and an exchange of e-mails with USR engineers located across the world.

Changing conditions in Iraq have led to further challenges for the barrier, such as the introduction of the 43,000 pound MRAP vehicle. Despite the significant increases in the size and weight of vehicles crossing the barrier, the XMB has proven reliable and durable.

When the U.S. Military first contacted USR in 2006 with an urgent request to engineer a mobile active vehicle barrier, USR developed and deployed the XMB in less than 12 months. Since then, additional innovative products have been created along with barrier enhancements to resolve rising security concerns encountered by our nation's armed forces deployed around the world. Uniquely responsive in providing solutions for the military, USR maintains a mission-oriented staff of engineers, project managers, installers and service professionals dedicated to unsurpassed service in attaining results along side our nation's fighting men and women.

In response to another recent request from the U.S. Military, USR released the STAR Barrier in a cooperative effort with the Air Force Battle Lab. Developed as a rapid deploy access security barrier, it provides a safer, more effective alternative to Concertina wire flash/snap checkpoints.

Founded in 1994, USR is the original creator of the GRAB-sp active vehicle barrier, which has become the fastest growing barrier technology in the world. USR leveraged its barrier technology to evolve into a full perimeter security provider of barriers, fencing, access control points, and intrusion detection systems. USR serves a variety of clients in the defense, transportation and petro-chemical industries, as well as corporate facilities, airports, Fortune 500 companies, national laboratories and museums. USR staff includes several former and current military personnel.
