Women's Designer Elie Tahari Goes from Rags to Riches, Builds Designing Empire

Elie Tahari, a women's couture fashion designer in New York City, was recently featured in Haute Living Magazine, a bi-coastal luxury magazine that features the who's who in luxury design and lifestyles, for his rags to riches story of how he built his designing empire.

New York City (PRWEB) June 14, 2008 -- Elie Tahari, a women's couture fashion designer based out of New York City, was recently featured in Haute Living Magazine, a bi-coastal luxury magazine that features stories on the best designers, restaurants and places to see in the U.S., for his rags to riches story that took him from an orphanage in Israel to the runways in New York and Milan.

"The brand is about feeling sexy in a sophisticated modern way. Elie Tahari lets women be playful," says Rory Tahari, the vice chairman for Elie Tahari's line. "I want women to see the picture (of Elie's advertising campaigns) and say, "I want to be her, I want to feel what she feels."

Tahari's boutique headquarters are in Milan and a flagship store will soon be opening in Istanbul, and new boutiques may open soon in markets such as the Middle East, Russia, Asia, as well as Moscow's Tsum and London's Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.

Future plans for the line include expanded lifestyle stores, which will offer everything from clothing and home accessories to cosmetics and fragrance, as well as a men's accessories line this fall.

About Elie Tahari:
Elie Tahari's unique talent for dressing the sexy, sophisticated woman has evolved into a 500 million dollar business, with a presence on five continents, in more than 600 U.S. stores and in five free-standing boutiques, which is quite a difference from the boy who grew up in an orphanage and immigrated to the U.S. in the 1970s with empty pockets and a heart full of spirit. After his arrival in New York, Elie Tahari was desperate for work, and went from showroom to showroom in the Garment District looking for employment. His position selling clothing from a boutique in Greenwich Village was an introduction to his first love - designing women's fashion. Elie Tahari's determination to learn and his auspicious attraction to the electric energy of New York's famed club scene inspired the designs that propelled him into the 'who's who' of fashion.
