Despite disappointing market performance, bank executive compensation rose nearly 5% in 2007.
Charlottesville, VA (Vocus/PRWeb) June 24, 2008 -- SNL Financial, the leading provider of sector-focused data, news and analytics on financial institutions, today released the SNL Executive Compensation Review for Banks and Thrifts, which reports total compensation data for senior officers at the nation's banks and thrifts. SNL compares this data against prior years, competitors of the same size and overall institutional performance.
"The data reveals that while total return for banks and thrifts in 2007 was -23.7% (as compared to +16.9% in 2006), the median change in total compensation for all bank and thrift CEOs increased 4.8% during the same period," said Will Retzer, senior analyst at SNL Financial. "Despite large declines in ROAE and ROAA, CEOs at banks and thrifts with more than $10B in total assets saw only a 4.3% drop in median total compensation."
The SNL Executive Compensation Review for Banks and Thrifts is the only unbiased, comprehensive resource that compares publicly traded banks' and thrifts' historical executive compensation figures and their institutional performance with that of their peer institutions.
Besides banks and thrifts, SNL's compensation reviews are also available for insurance and real estate. All editions provide:
- Industry trends in base salary, annual compensation and total compensation.
- Compensation rankings by company size, region/sector and position.
- Two years of salary, bonus, options and other compensation data for as many as five top executives at every company.
- Each company's market and financial performance, allowing for a comparison of the relationship between pay and performance.
- Custom peer groups for each company based on region and asset size.
- Board of director compensation.
