With the 2008 Motor Transport Award nominees recently announced, Haulage Exchange is proud to announce that 3 of the companies up for winning are users of their freight exchange. Haulage Exchange are proud to aid three successful haulage companies in their endeavours, which proves that with a good setup and cutting down your dead mileage it is still possible to be successful in these difficult times for the industry.

London, UK (PRWEB) June 28, 2008 -- With the 2008 Motor Transport Awards just around the corner, the final list of nominees has been released. Leading UK freight exchange, Haulage Exchange (http://www.haulageexchange.co.uk), is proud to announce that 3 of the companies that use their service are up for recognition.

The Motor Transport Awards is an annual ceremony which recognises the best of the road transport industry across 17 categories, and the haulage companies who regularly use Haulage Exchange can be found in 3 of them. First up, Browns' Distribution are nominated in the 'Best Use of Technology' category for their in-house transport management system, which had reportedly helped them improve efficiency as well as streamlining their pod and invoice handling. Then, AE Costin are nominated in the 'Low Carbon & Efficiency" section for their commitment to driving their vehicles to burn as little fuel as possible, and finally RCS Logistics are shortlisted for the coveted 'Haulier of the Year' award. All three Haulage Exchange members face stiff competition, with the likes of Tesco, Royal Mail and TNT Express amongst the nominees in their respective categories, but all will become clear on Wednesday July 2nd, when the Motor Transport Awards winners are announced in London.

Managing Director of Haulage Exchange, Lyall Cresswell, was full of praise for the recognition the companies had received: "I think it says a lot that even in these difficult times for the haulage industry that some of our members can not just survive, but thrive and get nominated for such great awards," he said. "These are all great achievements, and with our members being nominated alongside such big names as TNT and Royal Mail, it's clear that they have done outstandingly. I like to think that using our freight exchange has helped their businesses reach these new heights," he continued.

Haulage Exchange is a freight exchange designed exclusively for the 7.5tonne and above market, which allows its membership of over 4,000 hauliers, owner operators and freight forwarders to exchange their loads and backloads to cut down on dead mileage, increase efficiency and help the environment. Using the system has proved invaluable for members of all sizes as the spiralling fuel prices threaten to make profits negligible over the coming year.

With fuel prices reaching all time highs, a constant stream of haulage companies going out of business and congestion charging all proving major worries for the industry, it is good to hear that some companies are still managing to turn in a decent profit. "It's been a difficult year for the haulage industry, and it's great that we finally have something to celebrate. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed next Wednesday," added Cresswell.
