ECS Contracts Ziphany to Implement Notifications Module for 3,000+ Demand Response Participants

ECS improves its notification process via Ziphany’s Demand Response Platform, ensuring that more end-users curtail appropriately during ISO-called demand response events.

Buffalo, NY (Vocus/PRWeb) June 1, 2008 -- Energy Curtailment Specialists, Inc. has contracted Ziphany, LLC to implement its enhanced Notification Module for the more than 3,000 demand response customers of ECS throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Demand response (DR) is the reduction of electric usage or the turning on of on-site generators in response to rising demand, which leads to inflated prices or energy shortages. ECS contracts end-users to curtail usage at peak times in order to reduce such dangers, and Ziphany facilitates their efforts with solutions such as the Notifications Module, which is privately branded as E-CAN (ECS’ Custom Alert Network).

The module’s logic now permits us to more instantaneously contact ours thousands of customers and allow us to activate event calls with much less stress and much more confidence.
Though Ziphany provides many notification options, letting end-users know about a called event is not the primary issue – hearing back from them is. Based on the needs of the aggregator and the accessibility of each of their participants, Ziphany’s automated notifications go out in any combination of the following: phone call, email, text message, fax. Notifications are accompanied with a call-to-action (e.g. “press 1 to confirm”). The DR provider then sees real-time graphs populated by the responses as they come in.

“Prior to the implementation of the Notification Module, we had to pull from our staff when an event was called,” said Stephen Lynch of ECS. “The module’s logic now permits us to more instantaneously contact ours thousands of customers and allow us to activate event calls with much less stress and much more confidence.” Increasing efficiency is imperative to market leadership, and it is the position of ECS that a partnership with Ziphany will do so.

Brian Palka, Ziphany CEO agrees, “We hope to bring a unique approach to efficiency. For a fast-growing company like ECS, scalability is essential, and it’s our goal to help them attain that.”
