The Inaugural Fantasy Football Open Championship Tournament Will Award The First Ever $1 Million Dollar Grand Prize Total Prizes of Nearly $2 million with 15 Finalists Receiving All Expense Paid Trip to Las Vegas

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) July 16, 2008 -- Turning fantasy (football) into reality, the Fantasy Football Open Championship (FFOC), powered by Fanball.com, the leading fantasy sports media company, announced today the launch of the first-ever million-dollar fantasy football tournament. With combined prize money of nearly $2 million, the FFOC will provide the richest payout in fantasy sports history in an effort to find the best fantasy football player in the world. The eventual winner will be crowned at a ceremony in Las Vegas where they will be awarded the prestigious Millionaire Jacket and become history's first-ever fantasy football millionaire.

"For years the fantasy space has been awaiting a $1 Million Dollar grand prize and the Fantasy Football Open Championship is going to make that a reality," said Senior Vice President of Fanball.com Ryan Houston. "Fanball is honored to be part of this history-making event and looks forward to the day when one player from our amazing industry will be awarded life-changing money."

Others have tried to create big money fantasy football tournaments, but without much success. Where we've succeeded is in creating a structure that finally makes this all possible
Additionally, the top 15 finalists will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas to attend the grand prize event and compete for $1,731,000 prizes. The top three tournament finishers will receive $1,000,000, $350,000 and $150,000 respectively.

"Others have tried to create big money fantasy football tournaments, but without much success. Where we've succeeded is in creating a structure that finally makes this all possible," said Stan Misthios, game architect of the Fantasy Football Open Championship. "The great thing about this system is that even if they don't make the million-dollar championship bracket, players still have a chance to win as much as $10,000, among other prizes. To date the highest payout in fantasy football has been $300,000. We've exceeded that with our second place prize!"

For an entry fee as low as $125, prospective millionaires can sign up at www.FFOC.com to test their skills against the world's best fantasy football players.

The FFOC launch will be supported by an online and mass media advertising campaign.

Tournament Details
All drafts take place online and participants in the FFOC compete in 10-team standard snake-draft leagues. Draft times will be posted on www.FFOC.com and are scheduled from July until the beginning of the football season in September. Each team will draft 20 players and feature an active roster of ten players-1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 offensive option, 1 K and 1 DEF.

Participants play each team in their league during Weeks 1-9 and will accumulate one win or loss in each head-to-head match-up. Teams will also accumulate an additional win or loss each week based on whether they finish in the top or bottom half of their league in points scored. At the end of nine weeks, each team will have 18 games attributed to their record and the top two teams will play in a head to-head matchup to determine which team goes onto the championship round known as the Las Vegas Week 16 Bracket. The team moving onto the Las Vegas Week 16 Bracket will receive $250, while the losing team will receive a free entry into the 2009 FFOC.

The second-place through fourth-place teams in each league will enter the 1st and Goal Bracket, where the winner will receive $10,000. The fifth-place through 10th-place teams in each league will enter the Red Zone Bracket, where the winner will receive $6,000.

Each week a percentage of teams will be cut from the Las Vegas Week 16 Bracket based on points scored each week, until there are 15 teams remaining in Week 16 of the football season.

The winners from each bracket will be determined by the sum of three combined scores: average points from Week 1 through Week 10; average points from Week 11 through Week 15; and points from Week 16.
