Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. (Vocus) July 9, 2008 -- The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), the leading trade association for the world’s information technology industry (IT) industry, announced today that business and financial planning classes for IT solution providers have been added to the educational program at Breakaway 2008, its annual member conference.

The CompTIA University “Business Success Track” scheduled for August 5-7 will include a half- day seminar and three related “deep-dive” workshops focused on business and financial planning. The program will be held during Breakaway 2008, the IT industry’s premier partnering and educational event, August 5-7 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

Paul Dippell, chief executive officer of Service Leadership, Inc., will lead the workshops.

"Our June research on the potential for a recession impacting the small and medium-sized IT business simply highlights what we've always known: the best-prepared and best-informed solution provider executives make the most effective business decisions in times of expansion and contraction,” said Dippell. “The exclusive Service Leadership workshops and tools CompTIA is bringing to Breakaway attendees will help them make better business plans and execute with greater skill, protecting equity and maximizing returns regardless of what the near future may bring."

Participants will learn effective insights into the aspects of planning for top financial performance and risk reduction at the ''Business Planning Basics for Solution Providers'' seminar from 8-11:30 a.m. on August 5. Registrants will receive a continental breakfast, study materials and a single-user license to the exclusive Service Leadership Index™ Business Model Explorer™ tool.

The first deep-dive workshop, ''Building an Effective and Actionable Solution Provider Business Plan'', is scheduled on August 6 from 9-10 a.m. This session is designed to teach attendees how to develop, execute and adjust strategic and operational plans.

The second deep-dive session, held from 2-3 p.m. on August 6 and titled ''Designing Sales and Services Compensation for Solution Providers'', will offer information on the best way to leverage measurement systems that translate into compensation in order to motivate employees.

During the third workshop, ''Establishing Your Chart of Accounts for Effective Financial Management and Controls'' from 9-10 a.m. on August 7, Dippell will show attendees how a chart of accounts (COA) is necessary for optimal financial tracking and planning and how to construct a COA. Those in attendance will receive study materials, and a single-user license for the Service Leadership Index™ Chart of Accounts Simulation Tool™ available only through CompTIA University.
