Knowledge Infusion and IHRIM Survey Reveals Significant Flaws in the Deployment of Talent Management Initiatives

Survey shows companies underachieve in HR service delivery with poor business alignment, inadequate funding, and weak change management capabilities.

Minneapolis, Minn. (PRWEB), August, 27, 2008 -- Knowledge Infusion, a leading provider of strategic advisory and consulting services focused on human resources (HR), talent management and emerging technology solutions - and the International Association for Human Resources Information Management (IHRIM) - announced the preliminary results from their fourth annual joint survey, Assessing HR Service Delivery in Human Capital.

Findings show significant opportunity for HR departments to improve their overall service delivery strategy and execution, evidenced by less than a third of survey respondents who indicated they are delivering excellent or above-average services. Additionally, less than 10 percent believe their employees are satisfied with HR and talent management technology.

Creating an HR or talent management brand identity and communicating its business and personal value across stakeholders is crucial to driving user acceptance.
Only one in five companies indicated they had a fully aligned HR strategy that was integrated with broader company goals and initiatives, a slight increase over last year's figure of 12 percent. In addition, 60 percent of organizations do not have a formal governance strategy for making HR and talent management decisions.

"Companies have gone underserved in the market," said Knowledge Infusion Vice President Jason Corsello. "Both the technology vendors as well as internal IT departments are challenged with aligning the technology with the business and meeting the deployment and change management needs of the enterprise with HR technology."

Respondents also were asked about how they communicated new HR and talent management strategies to their employees, managers, and executives. Only one-third said they leverage integrated marketing activities to brand and communicate new programs and technologies, and 60 percent indicated that they do not have the necessary budget to effectively communicate, train, and drive adoption.

"Launching internal programs requires the same level of discipline and innovation as promoting client-facing products," said Knowledge Infusion Vice President Bonnie Tichman, who leads services focused on deploying new human capital and talent management initiatives. "Creating an HR or talent management brand identity and communicating its business and personal value across stakeholders is crucial to driving user acceptance."

"The findings from the survey show our members where they can continue to focus to be more successful with their HR and talent management initiatives," said Lynne Mealy, chief executive officer of IHRIM. "We continue to partner with Knowledge Infusion on the annual survey because they truly have the pulse on HR and IT and can bring together information that will make HR organizations change for the better."

More than 300 IHRIM members and Knowledge Infusion clients - most of whom represented large organizations with more than $500 million in revenue - responded to the survey, which also included various questions on HR technology teams, shared services and governance. An article outlining the final results will be available to IHRIM members on Sept. 2, 2008 at www.ihrim.org.

Complete results are available to Premium Members of the Knowledge Infusion Center of Excellence.
