Dennis Phillips is gaining fans and media attention with his position as the chip leader at the 2008 World Series of Poker.

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) August 30, 2008 -- November 9, 2008 marks the date when nine poker players will play in the 2008 World Series of Poker main event final table. Dennis Phillips will be the chip leader and works as an account manager for a trucking firm. His chip count is 26,295,000.

Phillips won his World Series of Poker main event seat when he beat out Dan Nassif in heads-up play. Phillips does not plan on quitting his truck sales management day job if he wins the tournament, even though a 1st place payout is over $ 9.1 million. He has also pledged to donate 1 percent of his winnings to poker professional Phil Gordon's charity, Prevent Cancer Foundation's Bad Beat on Cancer.

"I am thrilled to contribute a portion of my WSOP earnings," said Phillips. "Charity involvement has always been an important part of my life, and hopefully more poker players and final table participants with follow suit in upcoming poker circuits."
