Smart Destinations Inc. today announced Robert Hohman has joined its Board of Directors to help guide the company through its next phase of growth. As a former president of Hotwire.com and part of the founding team at Expedia Inc., Hohman brings a tremendous depth of knowledge and experience in travel, the Internet, and technology to the Smart Destinations Board.
What attracts me to Smart Destinations is that it exhibits that combination of customer focus and the effective use of technology that seems to repeatedly mark out the winners from the losers in travel. I am looking forward to helping them keep pushing forward on both fronts.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) January 5, 2009 -- Smart Destinations Inc. today announced Robert Hohman has joined its Board of Directors. As a former president of Hotwire.com and part of the founding team at Expedia Inc., Hohman brings a tremendous depth of knowledge and experience in travel, the Internet, and technology to the Board.

"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Robert to our Board," said Cecilia Dahl, co-founder and President of Smart Destinations. "It is exceedingly rare to find someone with his combination of technical expertise and travel industry experience."

Prior to creating his present company, Glassdoor.com, a career and workplace community, Hohman was president of Hotwire, a leading discount travel site. He was also part of the founding team of Expedia, where as VP of Development he led the original technology team that built the Expedia platform. As part of the executive team that took the company public in 1999, Hohman also served as president of Classic Custom Vacations and executive vice president of Cruise & Packages for Expedia North America. Hohman started his career at Microsoft and worked as a software developer in a range of areas from Windows 95 to interactive television to online games.

"When I look back at the changes the travel industry has experienced over the past 10 to 15 years, you see the continued intersection of travel and technology at almost every point," said Hohman. "What attracts me to Smart Destinations is that it exhibits that combination of customer focus and the effective use of technology that seems to repeatedly mark out the winners from the losers in travel. I am looking forward to helping them keep pushing forward on both fronts."
