Vermont Highland Drumming Instructor Earns Highest Level of Certification

Andrew Adams, the drumming instructor for St. Johnsbury Academy's Graham Highlanders Pipe Band, has become only the third American, and the first non-professional drummer from the U.S., to pass the Piping and Drumming Qualifications Board's Level 4 test, the highest level of drumming certification.

St. Johnsbury, VT (PRWEB) January 7, 2009 -- Andrew Adams, the drumming instructor for St. Johnsbury Academy's Graham Highlanders Pipe Band, has become only the third American, and the first non-professional drummer from the U.S., to pass the Piping and Drumming Qualifications Board's Level 4 test, the highest level of drumming certification.

Adams scored an "A" on the four-part test, which was administered November 23 in Albany, New York by J. Reid Maxwell, lead drummer for the five-time and current World Pipe Band Champions, Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Areas address on the four-hour test included, Maintenance, Theory, Practical, and Performance.

Next summer, Adams plans to take the Pipe Band Studies tests, followed by the Drumming Teachers Certification tests in the fall.

The Piping and Drumming Qualifications Board is the certifying body for the 18 qualifications offered jointly by the Army School of Bagpipe Music and Highland Drumming, College of Piping, National Piping Centre, the Piobaireachd Society, and the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association.

Located in the scenic Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, St. Johnsbury Academy is a private, independent boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12, plus a post-graduate year.
