Veteran folk-rock duo Aztec Two-Step interpret the songs of their legendary predecessors, Simon & Garfunkel on a new live recording and in concert. Mixed Bag radio host Pete Fornatale provides commentary and insight based on research and his interviews with Simon & Garfunkel.
New York, NY (PRWEB) January 9, 2009 -- What began as a one-time benefit has since gone on to produce an ongoing series of concerts, a live radio broadcast and now a compact disc.
In December 2007, Mixed Bag radio host and author of the recently published book Simon and Garfunkel's Bookends (Rodale Press) Pete Fornatale asked folk-rock duo Aztec Two-Step to perform the music of Simon and Garfunkel at a benefit concert for Outpost In The Burbs, a non-profit concert venue in Montclair, NJ. They would agree, they said, if Pete would provide some commentary and insight based on his research and interviews with Simon and Garfunkel.
In short order, Pete Fornatale and Aztec Two-Step had collaborated on a half dozen more performances of "The Simon and Garfunkel Songbook" show.
In April 2008, Pete, Rex and Neal performed "The Simon and Garfunkel Songbook" before an audience at WFUV-FM's Studio A. Engineered and produced by Matt Billy, Time It Was - The Simon and Garfunkel Songbook Live, a recording of that performance, is now available on CD at www.aztectwostep.com, Amazon and CD Baby.
Aztec Two-Step and Pete Fornatale will perform "The Simon and Garfunkel Songbook" on the following dates:
