AEgis, an international leader in modeling and simulation, is pleased to announce the release of acslXtreme Version 2.4. acslXtreme is used extensively in the pharmaceutical, toxicological and chemical industries to model the absorption, distribution, metabolization, excretion and toxicity (ADMET) of chemicals in the human body.

Huntsville, AL (PRWEB) October 3, 2007 -- The AEgis Technologies Group, Inc., a leading supplier of simulation software, training, and engineering services to the international modeling and simulation community, announces the release of the acslXtreme Version 2.4. acslXtreme is used extensively in the pharmaceutical, toxicology and chemical industries to model the absorption, distribution, metabolization, excretion and toxicity (ADMET) of chemicals in the human body via the implementation and analysis of pharmacokinetic (PK), pharmacodynamic (PD) and physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models.

Version 2.4 software introduces numerous performance and usability improvements, including: a new system for scripting plots in acslX, allowing complete control over plot settings and behavior from M code; introduction of a variety of new ODE solvers, including two new stiff system solvers based on the ODEPACK and CVODE packages (including support for sparse systems), and a fast second-order Adams-Bashforth solver; numerous enhancements to the source code editors, including code section outlining, pop-up syntax help, and automatic code completion; re-implementation of performance-sensitive components of the user interface, in order to improve overall application speed and responsiveness; additions and improvement to the acslX suite of optimization and parameter estimation solvers, including addition of a new robust implementation of the Quasi-Newton algorithm, addition of the Particle Swarm algorithm, and improvements to LLF calculations used in parameter estimation; general ease-of-use improvements including a redesigned start page, built-in tutorials, and additional user interface options for controlling plots and reports, logging output, controlling layout of the document and tool windows, and building and running simulations; improvements and additions to data exchange with Microsoft Excel and Access; and numerous other additions and bug fixes as requested by users.

The award-winning acslXtreme environment provides integrated, end-to-end capabilities for model development, simulation execution, and results analysis. Models are specified using either familiar block diagram notation, or code-based descriptions using the CSL modeling language. By default, all model representations are translated into C or FORTRAN language source code for compilation and execution, ensuring the fastest possible performance and support for extremely large or complex models. Open application programming interfaces (APIs) are provided throughout the system to extend acslXtreme functionality, allow the integration of custom or legacy code within acslXtreme models, or to embed the generated simulation into end-user applications. Model code reuse is supported through easily creatable user-defined libraries of simulation blocks. acslXtreme provides a powerful simulation control scripting language and mathematical analysis environment based on the popular M-File language.

Version 2.4 of acslXtreme continues the tradition of its predecessor, ACSL, which was one of the first commercially available modeling and simulation tools designed for simulating continuous systems. ACSL has been validated through more than 25 years of continuous use by the world's most demanding simulation professionals.
