Arlington, Texas (Vocus/PRWeb) April 15, 2008 -- After a weekend-long game-playing marathon, members of Mensa, the high IQ society, have named the 2008 recipients of the Mensa Select® seal. In alphabetical order, this year’s winners are:

Mensa Select games are chosen based upon several criteria including aesthetics, instructions, originality, play appeal and play value. You don’t have to be a genius to enjoy these games but you should be ready to have a great time!
AmuseAmaze – A spell-binding word race in a letter maze, where even little words are winners. The board changes each time the game is played, as it’s played, so it’s never the same game twice! www.hlgames.com

Eye Know – A board game featuring trivia with a poker twist. Players identify images, answer compelling trivia related to the image and collect cards while placing strategic bets. www.eyeknowgame.com

Jumbulaya – Players build new words, rearrange tiles and claim lines while simultaneously searching for a Jumbulaya. www.platypusgames.com

Pixel – Don’t let the situation slide out of control in this fun strategy game of slide, point, align, and win. The first player with three in a row wins! www.educationalinsights.com

Tiki Topple – A fast-paced strategy game. Players try to maneuver their secret tikis to the top of the line by playing the right combination of action cards. The player with the most points wins! www.gamewright.com

Mensa Select winners are chosen annually at the Mensa Mind Games® competition. During the competition, Mensa members play and rate new board and card games. The five games that rate the highest are named Mensa Select and may display the Mensa Select seal on their packaging.

“The Mensan judges had a great assortment of games to choose from this year and the five they’ve chosen to bear the Mensa Select seal are the cream of the crop,” said Greg Webster, chairman of this year’s Mind Games competition. “Mensa Select games are chosen based upon several criteria including aesthetics, instructions, originality, play appeal and play value. You don’t have to be a genius to enjoy these games but you should be ready to have a great time!”

This year’s Mind Games competition was held April 11-13 in Phoenix, AZ. More than 210 players from every corner of United States reviewed 54 game entries. During the event, Mensa members also filled out thousands of comment cards, which will be returned to the manufacturers. Suggestions from the comment cards are often used to improve the games.

Based in Arlington, Texas, American Mensa is an organization open to anyone who scores in the top two percent on an accepted, standardized intelligence test. More information about the organization may be found at www.us.mensa.org. More information about Mind Games and the Mensa Select Seal may be found at www.mindgames.us.mensa.org.
