Book early for summer’09 to avoid disappointment.

The company is recommending its customers book their summer 2009 holidays early rather than wait for last minute deals. A recent survey by Which? found that while booking a holiday at the right time can save a small fortune, some holidays do sell out quickly. For this reason they recommended booking early to avoid disappointment when looking to book summer’09 holidays. Likewise commentators such as insurance specialists Towergate Bakers, are reporting a growing trend among 30-somethings to holiday in the UK during 2009, again likely to add to the demand for UK properties. Further studies by the likes of Mintel and PricewaterhouseCoopers further reinforce the trend with both showing UK luxury holidays expected to grow in 2009.
This all backs up findings by Blue Chip Vacations whose own survey found that 60% of people planned to holiday in the UK rather than abroad, with a further 33% holidaying both overseas and in the UK. The ‘credit crunch’ had certainly altered people’s holiday plans with 17% of consumers claiming they were looking to holiday at a cheaper time of the year and 15% that they were waiting until the last minute before booking in order to snap up last minute deals.
Liam Gavin comments, “It is one of the few positive economic stories of the moment. With the Euro is at its highest level ever it can cost a typical family of four up to £200 in flight and holiday taxes if they travel overseas, so it makes sense that people are looking to the UK for 2009. Whilst people cut back on day-to-day costs, their annual holiday appears sacrosanct and the UK’s top holiday destinations, such as; Devon and Cornwall are proving more popular than ever.”
