Educator leads course on Architectural Reflection of Culturee, a chronological look at architecture as a reflection of major cultural concerns in the Western world.
Orange Park, FL (PRWEB) June 7, 2007 -- Dr. Marianne MacNichol, Professor of Humanities for St. Johns River Community College has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Humanities in Education. MacNichol has 44 years of experience in education, 30 of which have been spent as a professor. She currently teaches a course entitled Architectural Reflection of Culture. This chronological look at architecture as a reflection of major cultural concerns in the western world spans prehistoric times to the twentieth century. Each major period is thematically approached and studied with visual aids and discussions. The course also focuses on the psychological and sociological impact of the ethos upon man's architectural monuments as an extension of his personal needs and basic instinct for physical survival and mental well-being. St. Johns River Community College offers academic excellence in technical training, Associate degrees and transfer to a university.
MacNichol received a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Humanities and Literature from Florida State University in 1982. She also holds a Masters Degree in English, a Masters Degree in Interdisciplinary Humanities, a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in English and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a minor in Theatre. "MacNichol is the recipient of the Cambridge Blue Book Award (2005), the Sara Harodon Award (1974), the Nisod Award (2002) and the Outstanding Female Excellency Award (2003). She is listed in 2000 Notable Women (2003), Who's Who Among American Teachers (1996, 1998, 2000, 2005), Great Minds of the 21st Century (2004) and 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals in the 21st Century (2003)."
