As of 2004, the number of hours spent on the internet overtook the number of hours spent watching television in the US. Additionally, the majority of people under 30 now use the internet for their news, information, and education, as well as entertainment. RealCatholicTV.com provides solid Catholic programming targeted directly at the internet audience.

Says Michael Voris, Sr. Executive Producer and host of the network's flagship show, The Vortex, "We hope to make possible 'direct and immediate access to important religious and spiritual resources' for Catholics and Non-Catholics alike. Through Real Catholic TV, viewers will be able to 'overcome distance and isolation' by joining our 'virtual community of faith' that will both inspire and entertain. For the first time, 'young people and young adults, the elderly and home-bound, persons living in remote areas, the members of other religious bodies' and those who are merely interested in access to authentic Catholic programming have a safe and common place to come on the Internet."

RealCatholicTV.com utilizes an easy to navigate site featuring proprietary technology. The site will provide content through a video player that will allow users to view, send, and download content regardless of their computing platform with no plug-ins required. All viewers will have free access to home page content - daily news and commentary (current events and politics) from the Catholic perspective, messages directly from Catholic bishops to the faithful, program previews, and more.

Premium memberships for $10.00 per month will allow access to the full site which includes original programming such as The Other View - a talk show featuring five women co-hosts; Catholic Critic - movie/book/art reviews; Moral Compass - a "Front Line" style approach to church teaching on morality, and Shadow Priest - an edgy presentation of profound Catholic teaching aimed at the young, tech-savvy audience, and at least a dozen more programs.

RealCatholicTV.com has the support of various bishops in the US including Archbishop Charles Joseph Chaput of Denver, CO, Bishop David R. Choby of Nashville, TN, and Bishop Robert Francis Vasa of Baker, OR, as well as Bishops around the world such as Bishop Athanasius Schneider of Karaganda, Kazakhstan, all who are all making appearances on Real Catholic TV this month. Check out their Shepherd's Voice channel at www.RealCatholicTV.com.
