Diabetes website, The Official Diabetes Blog™, has released data showing the need for increased awareness about the symptoms and treatment of Diabetes. A survey conducted between September and October 2006 showed that 44% of Diabetes sufferers who visited www.OfficialDiabetesBlog.com were looking for information on Diabetes Symptoms or Treatments.

(PRWEB) October 23, 2006 -- Diabetes website, The Official Diabetes Blog™, has released data showing the need for increased awareness about the symptoms and treatment of Diabetes.

A survey conducted between September and October 2006 showed that 44% of Diabetes sufferers who visited www.OfficialDiabetesBlog.com were looking for information on Diabetes Symptoms or Treatments.

“Although Diabetes is becoming increasingly prevalent in western society, there is still a lack of understanding within the community, about the medical symptoms and effective treatments.” reports Stephanie Jakobi of the The Official Diabetes Blog™

With the increasing prevalence of diabetes, the lack of awareness about treatments and symptoms is becoming evident through the number of cases which go undiagnosed every year.
The United States Centres for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 29% of Americans living with Type 2 diabetes don’t even know they have the disease.

And based on the current growth trends in the prevalence of diabetes, a child born in the year 2000 has a one-on-three chance of developing diabetes.

The Official Diabetes Blog™ aims to address the problem of diabetes in the community by empowering people with the right information, raising money for research, education, awareness and care, and by helping Diabetes sufferers to live their lives to the full.

“It’s important for people to realise that there are now a lot more options for managing and treating diabetes, including making diet and lifestyle changes and, depending upon a person’s individual circumstances, homeopathic medicines.” Jakobi comments. “Diabetics don’t need to think of their condition as a life sentence – and it’s important to remember you’re not alone.”

As part of their online community, www.OfficialDiabetesBlog.com provides a free online forum where people can come together to share their experiences and ideas.

By raising awareness of the treatment and symptoms of diabetes, amongst sufferers and in the wider public, The Better Information Network™ and www.OfficialDiabetesBlog.com are helping people to understand this disease better.
