Iranian Christians Make an Urgent Plea for Bibles as Believers Increase

According to International Antioch Ministries (IAM), the non-profit outreach foundation of The Iranian Christian Church, requests for Bibles and New Testaments for Christians in Iran is at an all-time high.

Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) August 27, 2007 -- According to International Antioch Ministries (IAM), the non-profit outreach foundation of The Iranian Christian Church, requests for Bibles and New Testaments for Christians in Iran is at an all-time high. Requests for Iranian-language Bibles, particularly by new believers, are being received by IAM every day. Iranian Christians, including new converts, are contacting the ministry through IAM’s 24-hour satellite TV, Iranian Christian TV (ICTV), but the requests are more than the ministry can fulfill.

IAM believes that this growing demand for Persian Bibles and New Testaments is being fueled by a number of factors. One is the rising number of Christian converts in Iran. According to IAM, the number of Christians in Iran is growing fast. Current estimates vary from 500,000 to as high as one million. Another factor comes from the difficulties of obtaining and keeping Bibles caused by confiscations by Iranian officials and the Muslim "religious police." In addition, it is not legal in Iran to print Bibles, let alone distribute them widely, yet demand for the Gospel is increasing exponentially.

Pastor Hormoz Shariat, president of IAM and senior pastor of The Iranian Christian Church said, "During our daily two-hour, live, call-in evangelistic TV broadcasts, we receive constant requests for Bibles from both Christian and Muslim television viewers which, at this point, we are not able to fulfill. We are appealing to Christians in the West, as well as to churches and Bible study groups to help IAM meet this vital need for Bibles and New Testaments in the Persian language. For only ten dollars, we can provide an Iranian language Bible, which will be shared by many, many families and those who are new to Christ. There is no better way to support our Christian brothers and sisters in Iran, than to give them the gift of God’s word."

How to Help
People who wish to help can pray that this growing need for Persian-language Bibles and New Testaments will be met. Arques Ave., Sunnyvale, CA. 94085. Or, secure donations can be taken via IAM’s web site at http://www.iam-online.net/donate.html.
