Virtual Music, Inc. Introduces DeliverASong.com: A New, Patent-Pending Way to Send Digital Music Online

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

A key feature is the separation of roles between music purchasers and music downloaders/users.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) April 18, 2007 -- Virtual Music, Inc. today introduced its unique DeliverASong website that lets music lovers easily -- and legally -- send digital songs to their friends and loved ones in universal MP3 format over the Internet for just 99 cents each. The vast majority of today's online music vendors do not support the delivery of digital music over the Internet as gifts.

The new method that powers the DeliverASong.com service is so unique that it is currently being considered for a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. One key feature of that method is the separation of the roles between music purchasers and music downloaders/users. "Today's major online digital music vendors typically do not support sending digital songs as gifts. We shift the responsibility for agreeing to a 'user contract' to the recipient, which is where it should be," says Jerry Werner, Virtual Music, Inc.'s President.

By paying for this music, you'll be supporting the local artist community and ensuring a steady flow of great new music that will inspire, energize, and entertain you
Sending digital music as a gift is an extremely easy process. Purchasers can listen to sample clips of each song on the DeliverASong.com website, and each time they add a favored song to their shopping cart they simply provide the email addresses for all recipients (including themselves). They can then continue sampling different songs and sending those songs to the same or different individuals. In one session, purchasers can easily send a variety of different songs to a variety of different recipients, and their shopping cart automatically lists each song and corresponding recipient. Once the selection process is complete, the purchaser simply pays 99 cents via Google Checkout® for each song that is sent as a gift.

Each recipient then receives an email message announcing that someone has purchased gift songs for them. They then click on a specially encoded web address in that message that takes them to the appropriate location on the DeliverASong.com website, where they first agree to the terms of the user contract and then download their gift songs, which are compatible with iPodsR® and virtually all portable music and MP3 players.

The majority of the revenue from the sale of songs on DeliverASong.com goes directly to the featured artists. The remainder helps Virtual Music, Inc. develop, support, and grow the site, and find talented emerging (or re-emerging) artists and their music. "By paying for this music, you'll be supporting the local artist community and ensuring a steady flow of great new music that will inspire, energize, and entertain you," Werner says.

The initial DeliverASong.com website currently features original music from Austin, TX artists in a variety of genres. Austin, which calls itself the 'Live Music Capital of the World,' is a rich source of musical talent, and the company plans to add many new Austin-area artists and songs in the weeks ahead. "Our objective is to feature new original music from the most creative songwriters, musicians, and singers, so that music lovers will want to come back often to discover great new songs," Werner says. Virtual Music plans to create similar websites focusing on great local talent in other cities and regions.

Here are just three of the unique new songs you can send as gifts now on the new DeliverASong.com website:

  • "Never Met Nobody" from Austin jazz/blues legend Connie Jo Kirk. This song is as good as smooth jazz gets, and will likely be a hit with lovers and at wedding ceremonies. Click here to listen.

  • "Psychobabylon" by Paul Pearcy. This country song takes a light-hearted look at pop philosophy and psychology. Paul, an accomplished studio musician for such artists as Willie Nelson and the Dixie Chicks, has his special songwriting talents on display here. click here to listen.

  • "Impeach Cheney First" by longtime Austin folksinger Bill Oliver. This song will either have you on the floor or on the ceiling depending on your political persuasion, but at least it will make you think. click here to listen.
