Thinking in the Future Tense

(Vocus) February 18, 2008 -- Richard Dreyfuss, star of the critically-acclaimed film, Mr. Holland’s Opus, will speak to the NASSP’s 92nd annual convention in San Antonio, Texas on Feb. 22-24. His keynote speech will be about “Teaching Students How—Not What—To Think”. Dreyfuss, who has been a social and political activist for several years, is politically energized. His goal is to reinvigorate democracy by giving students the “pre-partisan” tools of reason: logic, clarity of thought, dissent, debate and civility.

  • Other speakers include: Cultural Anthropologist, Jennifer James, offers up pointers for “Thinking in the Future Tense”. She advises today’s school leader to attempt to understand the balance between what technology can do and what human culture can accommodate. Pink surveys evidence from around the world to reveal how the forces of abundance, Asia, and automation are nudging us into an era not defined by traditional “knowledge workers” but by creators and empathizers. He will offer hands on tools to help school leaders navigate this new terrain.
