Online Camaraderie Helps Entrepreneur Get Ahead

The National Clean Sweep Challenge Day wasnt just about clearing clutter; it was a time to connect.

Sherman Oaks, CA (PRWEB)) October 24, 2006 Like many small business owners and entrepreneurs, MaryPat Kavanagh spends a lot of time alone. So when she signed up for business coaching firm Success Connections online Clean Sweep Challenge Day, she had no reason to believe the day of the Challenge would be any less solitary.

What Kavanagh didnt realize was the Challenge, which helped dozens of entrepreneurs set aside time on September 1st to take care of nagging issues like clutter and disorganization, was a community event - one that stretched from L.A. to South Africa. All of them used the community website, www.CleanSweepChallenge.com/site, to post their comments and experiences.

As we got closer to the day, I realized that the social aspect was going to be a big factor," Kavanagh said. What I loved about the Clean Sweep was being able to clean up my office and feel like I wasn't the only one doing it; we were all working together by being able to access the blog. I thrive on the whole social aspect - it really inspired me and helped me get the job done."

Along with most of the other Clean Sweepers, Kavanaghs list included both household- and work-related items. Specifically, as a home-based entrepreneur, her house and work had merged and she used her Clean Sweep to pry the two apart.

According to Success Connections president Melanie Benson Strick, Kavanaghs positive experience with the social character of the Clean Sweep isnt unusual.

Its a way to really tap into the momentum that gets created around the Clean Sweep and not feel alone," Strick said. Thats why I created the event so that everybodys doing it together. I wanted to give that national holiday theme to it where everybody joins forces."

Using that momentum, Kavanagh managed to sort through several piles of clutter, get all of her bills in one place in her house and make all of her travel arrangements two months in advance. She had initially approached the event with skepticism, but now says that she expects to accomplish even more at her next Clean Sweep – Strick offers them twice per year – due to her increased faith in the process.

Later," she wrote, I thought to myself, "how much more could I have accomplished if I had gone into the day believing I was going to be successful instead of being surprised by my success!"

Melanie Benson Strick, "The Entrepreneur's Success Coach," offers keynote speeches, mentoring, training and products designed to get people out of overwhelm and onto the success fast-track. The National Clean Sweep Challenge Day toolkit is available free at www.CleanSweepChallenge.com.
