LEXINGTON, Mass. (Business Wire EON) January 15, 2008 --
AccuRev Inc. now offers significantly more software
configuration management (SCM) functionality, productivity and
performance enhancements for its AccuBridge for Visual
Studio 2005 plug-in directly in the Visual Studio IDE.
AccuBridge
for Visual Studio 2005, which now implements the SCC provider
interfaces that are part of the Visual Studio packages, also adds
significantly improved usability over the previous integration, which
was based on the Microsoft Common Source Code Control Interface.
“The new offering for Visual Studio 2005 is
the best one yet released. It allows developers who want to access
AccuRev SCM features
from within the IDE to work that way without stopping anyone from taking
advantage of the great StreamBrowser user interface,”
says Chris Barnes, Senior Systems Analyst and AccuRev Administrator,
Alaska Airlines.
Significant usability, productivity and performance enhancements within
AccuBridge for Visual Studio 2005 include:
-
AccuRev Command Naming Conventions in Solution Explorer and the
Toolbar – AccuRev commands (e.g., Add,
Keep, Promote, etc.) are now present on the context sensitive menu of
Solution Explorer and allow the user to execute these commands on the
selected items.
-
Uninterrupted Interaction During Commands Execution –
Users may now continue to interact with Visual Studio while
AccuRev commands run in the background. This is
particularly useful when a solution is loading. Once loading is
complete, AccuBridge for Visual Studio will update the status
decorations and mouse-over tips (e.g., backed, modified) on the
Solution Explorer items.
-
AccuRev Tool Window with Searches and History Tabs –
The Searches tab provides access to the same search filters that are
present in the AccuRev StreamBrowser™
GUI as well as a context sensitive menu for executing AccuRev commands
(e.g., Add, Keep, Promote, Revert, etc.). The History tab displays
transaction history for an element and provides a context sensitive
menu for executing AccuRev commands such as Diff against Workspace,
Diff Against Version and Checkout Version.
-
Support for Solutions Spanning Multiple AccuRev Workspaces –
This allows the user to have projects that are in different workspaces
to be part of the same solution, thus providing a more modularized
development process.
Cliff Utstein, vice president of marketing, AccuRev Inc, said, “AccuRev
is committed to making its customers successful from within their native
IDE or from the AccuRev GUI. Microsoft, through its Visual Studio
Industry Partner (VSIP) program, has demonstrated its commitment to
heterogeneous software tool environments by providing support for this
enhanced offering for AccuRev and Visual Studio.”
“Microsoft is pleased to see the new AccuRev
offering for Visual Studio 2005,” said Terry
Clancy, business development manager of the Visual Studio Industry
Partner program at Microsoft Corp. “Microsoft
customers can benefit from some of the unique software configuration
management advantages in AccuRev. We look forward to the continued work
from AccuRev through its membership in the VSIP program.”
