(Vocus) January 6, 2009 -- Singer-songwriter, Chris Orbach, will be hosting a record release party to celebrate the release of his second studio album, "Secession." The party will be held on Friday, January 9th, at Banjo Jims in New York City. Orbach and his quartet will be performing live with surprise performances.
"Secession", the follow-up CD to "Safely Through the Night", is a highly personal album with political undertones. Orbach calls Secession "a sort of musical referendum on the death of my father and the last 8 years under George W. Bush... I guess." But in the same breath, he'd probably tell you to only keep half an eye on the "concept" and just enjoy the songs. From the accessibly poppy "Samantha", to the rocking "Edge Of the World"; from the gentle "My Quiet Love" and "Red Star Assassins", to the world-beat swing of "Secession"; from the bittersweet "All Away" to the sublime and elemental "Long Lost Son", "Secession" is a musical journey worth taking.
The album will be available for sale at the event and also online at cdbaby.com, iTunes and Amazon.com. More information can be found at www.chrisorbach.com.
