Maryland professional baseball team joins Soldiers' Angels to support the troops.

(PRWEB) October 8, 2008 -- The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Professional Baseball team has opened their doors and welcomed Soldiers' Angels in a joint effort to support America's troops.

On August 9, 2008, the Blue Crabs of Waldorf, MD hosted Soldiers' Angels with an informational table in the main stadium concourse during the day's game. Additionally, the team gave two free ticket vouchers to any fan donating a minimum of $5.00 to Soldiers' Angels. Staff sergeant Brian Dudley of the Maryland National Guard--just home from deployment to Iraq--threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

On September 11, the Blue Crabs honored Maryland's First Responders who were at the Pentagon on that fateful day in 2001. Soldiers' Angels was included in this tribute to America's Heroes. The Blue Crabs provided first rate accommodations, and the fans pitched in to support the work done by Soldiers' Angels through monetary donations and volunteering for various Soldiers' Angels teams.

Soldiers' Angels is extremely grateful to the management and ownership of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs for their support of our many local service members and the national Soldiers' Angels organization. Team owners sent their appreciation and support to our deployed servicemen and women, and welcomed Soldiers' Angels into their stadium, which resulted in over $700 in donations and many new Soldiers' Angels volunteers who support the troops.

SOLDIERS' ANGELS is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the U.S. military and their families. Comprised of 200,000 volunteer members in over twenty different teams and programs, activities include letters, care packages, and comfort items to the deployed, and support for their families at home. The organization also provides assistance to the wounded, continuing support for veterans, remembrances and comfort for families of the fallen, and immediate response to unique difficulties.
