YAKUM, Israel & BOSTON (Business Wire EON) April 1, 2008 -- WorkLight Inc., an Enterprise 2.0 company, today announced the North American launch of the newly-formed Secure Enterprise 2.0 Forum. Members attending the Forums inaugural United States session on April 29, 2008, will address the security challenges and business opportunities presented by the introduction of Web 2.0 technologies into the enterprise. Forrester Researchs leading Web 2.0 security expert, Dr. Chenxi Wang, will keynote the event.

Five Enterprise 2.0 Startups to Watch
The thought leadership summit comes on the heels of the Forums successful European kickoff event, held in London in January 2008, together with senior security executives from leading global organizations, including Credit Suisse, Standard Chartered Bank, Reuters and others.

News Image At the upcoming U.S. event, the following topics and trends related to Web 2.0 adoption in the workplace will be addressed:

  • The Forums overarching mission - To promote the secure use of Web 2.0 to do business
  • Regulatory compliance and corporate awareness of Enterprise 2.0 technologies and culture
  • Business mobility and security issues related to the proliferation of Web 2.0 in the enterprise

Organizations are just beginning to realize the potential of Web 2.0 technologies in the workplace, as employees use consumer services such as instant messaging and Facebook to not only network with friends, but also to connect with colleagues inside their organization, said Yuval Tarsi, co-founder and CTO, WorkLight. Secure Enterprise 2.0 Forum members realize that there are enormous rewards to be gained from harnessing these applications for enterprise use, provided they understand and deal with the security challenges involved. In order for organizations to realize the business benefits of using consumer Web 2.0 services at work, it is necessary to create awareness and to educate the market about these security issues. The Forum is well on its way to achieving this goal.

Dr. Chenxi Wang, a principal analyst and a top security expert at Forrester Research, recently highlighted the need for adequate safeguards - The Internet today is an increasingly risky environment, not just for consumers but also for enterprise users accessing from work. The advent of Web 2.0 sees a new wave of rich, interactive content that promises to be fertile ground for malware gestation. (Web Filtering Market Overview 2007: Managing Risks on the Web, November 2007).

The Secure Enterprise 2.0 Forum was created to foster awareness and to provide an industry framework for the secure introduction of consumer Web 2.0 tools within the enterprise.
