Dallas, TX (PRWEB) July 24, 2008 -- OSHA requirements mandate that light sources used in hazardous environments, as defined by the presence and density of flammable gases and dust, be safety rated. Safety ratings, such as UL Class 1 Division 1 or ATEX Zone 0, help operators determine which hazardous locations are appropriate for different lighting products. Magnalights new offerings meet OSHA requirements.

Intrinsically safe lights produce no heat or spark and are the safest lights within any environment. Explosion proof lights, rated Class 1 Division 1 or Class 1 Division 2 are commonly used in the petrochemical space, including oil rigs, drilling operations and chemical storage tanks. Military applications for intrinsically safe lighting and explosion proof lights include areas where munitions or fuel are stored or loaded into vehicle and aircraft. Paint booths for vehicles and equipment are another popular use for explosion proof lighting.

"Generally, operators are faced with less choices when it come to explosion proof lighting," declared Rob Bresnahan, President of Larson Electronics. "There is a wide variety of permanent mount Class rated lights for ceilings and walls, but most of the operators need portable explosion proof lighting for inspection, cleaning, painting or plant turn around in one area for a limited period of time. At Magnalight.com we offer a wide selection of industrial grade explosion proof and intrinsically safe lights that can be used in a handheld fashion or mounted to ladders, rails, carts or dollies. Our explosion proof tank lights, for example, are designed to be wheeled through 18 inch and 24 inch man way common on chemical storage tanks. We offer a short quadpod and flange mount, so the same tank light can be removed from the dolly and suspended from a man way or attached to 2.5 foot quadpod to elevate the light source for floating level tanks. Our EPL-24-TLC-1X4 covers 22,000 square feet and is rated Class 1, Division 1 for groups C and D. This has been a very popular light. At Magnalight.com, we offer our explosion proof lighting for sale as well as provide explosion proof light rentals. Combined with our custom built transformers, power panels and ground fault boxes, we can equip any environmental firm or plant with lights for any task in hazardous locations."
