Company Founder Promises Fun Game Play, or Else

On The Spot Games has issued a Fun Guarantee for the company’s new card games. The promise: “If you Don’t Want to Play Again, Then Our Founder Gets it.” In a new campaign designed to promote its card games, the company is guaranteeing that anyone who plays one of its games will want to play them again. To underscore the point, company founder Rob Mathewson has offered to bare the brunt of a joke that will be chosen by game players through a poll on the company’s website.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) September 26, 2006 -- To Rob Mathewson having fun is serious business. In fact, as the Founder of On The Spot Games, it’s his business. Mathewson has taken the extraordinary step of personally guaranteeing that consumers will find his company's card games fun. The company today announced it would offer a "Fun Guarantee" on all of its games along with a personal pledge from Mathewson.

"If you play a game like Kotsuku just once, I guarantee that you'll want to play again," says Mathewson. "Our mission is to promote simple, sociable fun. If we are doing our job, then you will enjoy our games and want to keep playing. If not? Well, then I'm in big trouble." The "big trouble" Mathewson speaks of is more than just hyperbole. Today the company unveiled its Fun Guarantee with this promise: “If you don’t want to play again, then our founder gets it!”

According the pledge posted on www.ourfoundergetsit.com, anyone who plays an On The Spot Game that is not compelled to play again is entitled to some fun at the founder’s expense. By logging on to the site, visitors can vote on their preference for Mathewson’s fate. The choices include a re-creation of the story of William Tell. Only in this case, Mathewson will have an apple knocked off his head with a thrown salmon. Other choices available to voters involve a parade by the game entrepreneur through Seattle’s Pike Place Market dressed as Baby New Year, a kamikaze trip through a pack of Seattle Seahawks tailgaters dressed in Pittsburgh Steelers attire while playing highlights from last year’s Super Bowl and jumping his bicycle into the chilly waters of Lake Washington.

Voting to determine what lies ahead for Mathewson ends on December 20th. Though no date for the actual event has been announced for "security reasons", the company promises to announce the winning choice and provide video footage of the event on its web site.

"We've put hundreds of hours into the design of these games in order to ensure that they are easy to learn and fun to play again and again. That's why I'm so confident that the people who play them will find them to be great fun. After all, if you gave someone a board game as a Christmas gift, the last thing you would want is for that game to collect dust on a shelf because it’s boring.

In addition to Kotsuku™, the company’s other word game, Letter Hold ‘em™ is similar to poker only with a “smart twist.” Entertaining party games by On The Spot include Zero In™, a trivia game of entertainers and Trendsetters™, where players predict the “trends of their friends.”

Founded in 2001, On The Spot Games is based in Seattle, WA, the birthplace of some of the most popular board and card games in the US. The company’s mission is to promote simple, sociable fun through game play. The company received a Dr. Toy's Best Children's Vacation Product 2005 Award and the Seal of Excellence for the 2004 Creative Toy Awards by Creative Child Magazine for its debut product DidYa Know.
