BOSTON (Business Wire EON) September 9, 2008 --
Personal finance management website Geezeo.com
is expanding to include the "Geezeo
Financial Marketplace,” a one-stop
destination where users can compare and review banking products. Users
will now be able to search for the best savings accounts, credit cards,
cds, student loans, and later, mortgages, auto loans, and brokerage
accounts. Products can now be searched and compared based not only on
traditional data, like rate and fee information, but also on user
ratings and feedback from the Geezeo community.
Many people make their most important financial decisions, like which
credit cards and bank accounts to use, with very little information and
a great deal of uncertainty. The Marketplace will eliminate this
uncertainty by simultaneously demonstrating the hard facts of a product
as well as reveal what customers think of a specific product. Our users
rate their financial products and provide feedback on integrity,
customer service, and other intangibles not found in a prospectus.
"Community has always been core to the success of Geezeo," says Peter
Glyman, Geezeo's Co-Founder. "Similar to how eBay members rate buyers
and sellers to improve the experience for the next user, we see Geezeo
members interacting the same way in the Marketplace."
Geezeo is proud to offer the Marketplace as an additional service to
their community because it exemplifies the company's philosophy that
real people can educate themselves about money management.
"There's no debate that more people must step up and take control of
their financial future," says Shawn Ward, Co-Founder. "Since so few of
us are taught basic money management skills at home or in school, we
have a society that fears for their financial future. We want to assist
people so they can actively plan for a brighter future. Our site gives
people the tools they need — like budgets,
financial education and goals — but just as
importantly, we offer community and connection with others. Users
educate each other through discussion, debate, and now, product ratings."
In addition to launching the marketplace, Geezeo has rolled out a more
user-friendly interface, featuring advanced charting and enhanced goal
tracking. Summarizes Ward, "Used in symphony with our other free tools,
the Marketplace can provide a great deal of benefit to consumers. This
could be as simple as discovering an a credit card with a lower interest
rate or, as profound as revealing a user is spending $150 more every
month on gas compared to a year ago."
