CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Business Wire EON) February 27, 2008 -- Web startup Linkspank (www.linkspank.com) has announced it is awarding Hawaii getaways and Vegas getaways to the most skilled procrastinators using its free web service. The contest, which begins today, is a part of the site's public launch.

everyone to add her as a friend
Linkspank is a free web service that makes it more fun and efficient to share links -- such as YouTube videos, news articles, or websites -- with your friends. A "linkspank" or "spank" is a link that you send to a friend's email address, Linkspank profile, or Facebook account.

News Image Spankers win Hawaii trips and other prizes, such as iPhones, for their "procrastination skill," measured based on how often your friends open your links and spank them onward.

To date, Linkspank has already awarded Hawaii trips, iPhones, Nintendo Wiis, and Bose SoundDocks to its Spankers during the site's test phase. The site is also making smaller and more certain prize-winning opportunities available so all spankers can be rewarded.

"Skilled procrastinators should be rewarded for their prowess in this timeless art," says Andrew Mitchell, Founder & CEO of the Cambridge, MA startup. "But really, winning prizes is just the icing on the delicious cake that is Linkspank. Browsing with your friends is now more fun AND more efficient."

Elaine Kazakevich, a spanker who asked "everyone to add her as a friend," gave her opinion on the service. "Sometimes I am so bored at work I think my face is going to melt off. Now I visit Linkspank every day. This is going to be the next big thing."
