Ovations for the Cure is offering originally designed, eco-friendly tote bags for a tax-deductible $5 donation to help the tens of thousands of women who are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year as well as the thousands more already fighting the disease and who are at risk.
Natick, MA (PRWEB) November 11, 2008 -- Even Santa should have a sack like this.
Just in time for the holidays, Ovations for the Cure has unveiled its "Shop to Stop" initiative, offering originally designed, eco-friendly tote bags for a tax-deductible $5 donation. Proceeds from the bags will help the tens of thousands of women who are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year as well as the thousands more already fighting the disease and who are at risk.
The reusable bag, designed by Jackie Bretton of Evolution Eyes exclusively for Ovations for the Cure, features a black-and-white collage of fashion photos from makeup artist Alexandra Hall, chicly trimmed in the nonprofit organization's signature teal color.
"This is a great bag, it's a fashion bag," said Sandy Gradman of The Studio in Brookline, Mass., who has advised Ovations for the Cure on the bag. "Ovations for the Cure is our charity, really. It's an amazing organization. We believe in it and awareness about ovarian cancer really needs to be promoted. There's such a surge of reusable bags right now. This can really be the 'It' bag that everyone is carrying."
Ovations for the Cure supports research and patient treatment as well as awareness of the risk factors and subtle warning signs of this often overlooked women's cancer. Called the silent killer, ovarian cancer frequently causes non-specific symptoms that contribute to diagnoses in the late stages, and more than 70 percent of women diagnosed with this disease are diagnosed too late for successful treatment. In 2008, it is estimated that approximately 21,650 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and 15,520 will die.
The tote bag is available for a tax-deductible $5 donation online at www.ovationsforthecure.org and at participating retailers, including Massachusetts retailers W.O.W., Newton; Looks, Cambridge; Windows of Hope, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital; Fire Opal, Brookline; Strut, Northborough; Kenzie Kids, Chestnut Hill Mall; and Dresscode, Andover. The bag is also available at Details in Providence and Barami in New York City.
