As the Internet begins to take a different shape with the rise of user generated content and social networking websites, surfers now demand more from websites. This implementation by Laskys is a bold move to engage visitors and respond to the shifting patterns of online behaviour. Site browsers can vote on any issues that Laskys poses, such as which DVD format will eventually win the format war, and they can also take part in short quizzes to test their knowledge. Currently, visitors are asked what they think VAIO stands for and are presented with 5 options. The introduction of satellite navigation, communications and games will take the number Laskys' products on sale to nearly 900. These include wide lines from a host of premium brands, and welcome new ones such as TomTom, Garmin and Motorola.

Managing Director of Laskys, Ryan Thomas, said, "This is a first for us, and probably a first for retail sites in general. We certainly feel that this is something that will stand us in good stead for the future. We're fully aware that today's consumer is always on the look out for a better online experience, and hopefully we can provide that with these quizzes and polls. Hopefully, our customers will want to keep coming back to Laskys to take part in more polls and answer more questions."

Laskys are one of the first retailers to use this type of interactive content on their website, and are planning to further embrace the much celebrated Web 2.0 technology over the coming months. Thomas added, "Our perception of Web 2.0 is to provide a bit of fun for our visitors and to improve their experience on our site. With that in mind, we'd like our customers to keep returning to use all of our other planned initiatives, such as blogs and RSS news feeds. We have managed to grow very quickly in a short space of time, and we are looking to get even bigger and the interactive polls and quizzes are an important first step to achieving that."

Within a year, Laskys has established itself as an excellent electrical site specialising in flat panel TVs and home entertainment goods, including games consoles, home cinema systems and MP3 players. Laskys has recently launched desktop PCs, laptop computers and printers.
