Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 4, 2007 -- American Elements announced today the formation of a new product group to manage the production, sales and marketing of its quantum dot nanopowder production facilities. The new division was spun off from the Nanometals™ Group and will operate under the tradename AE Quantum Dots™.

American Elements is a manufacturer and supplier specializing in producing quantum dots from several semiconductor materials, including Cadmium Telluride (CdTe), Cadmium Selenide/Zinc Sulfide (CdSe/ZnS), Lead Selenide (PbSe) and Zinc Cadmium Selenide/Zinc Sulfide (ZnCdSe/ZnS) nanoparticles with well-defined peak emission frequencies between approximately 470 to 730 nm wavelengths.

Quantum Dots have the unique ability to emit light representing the entire rainbow of colors from the same elemental material based solely on the size of the particles of that material being excited. Prior to quantum dots, light emitting semiconductors, such as light emitting diodes (LED), could not emit white light. AE Quantum Dots with particle size distributions less than 500 nanometers (nm) produce LED emissions in the blue range which may allow for the commercial use of solid state semiconductors to generate luminescent light. The resulting revolution could be compared to Thomas Edison's original invention of the light bulb; the technology which LED lighting would potentially render obsolete. For more information, see http://www.americanelements.com/AEquantumdots.html.

The spin off of this AE Quantum Dots™ group is intended to consolidate sales and customer support of these materials and combine production capabilities where possible for better efficiency. The spin off will not result in any worker or staffing reductions.

For further technical and pricing information on the full line of American Elements' quantum dot products, please contact your local American Elements distributor or American Elements U.S. corporate headquarters at (1)310-208-0551, FAX (1)310-208-0351 or customerservice @ americanelements.com . American Elements is America's leading manufacturer and supplier of rare earth and other advanced material products with manufacturing and distribution offices in Europe, Asia and South America.
