Ad-Supported Widgets from Social Networking Web Sites Unleash Free Music For Fans

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 28, 2008 -- Today, a Los Angeles-based emerging, unsigned band -- Ultraviolet Sound -- will break new ground with the first-ever release of their new album via TrueAnthem Widget. Artists of years past released new albums on vinyl and later, CDs. As the online music revolution unfolded, driven by social networking sites, the power began to shift from music label to the music fan, with individual songs available for a .99 cent download. The best part: their fans can download the music free, legally and the band still gets paid.

A popular electro band with fans numbering in the tens of thousands, Ultraviolet Sound today releases their new full-length LP -- O.C.D. -- on the viral, easily shared -- and increasingly popular -- widgets. Widgets, the latest cool technology, are small portable applications easily embedded in any html page, including (but not limited to) many of the popular social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook and Friendster. Users simply "grab" the widgets, drop them on to their own webpage and enjoy the content, which is controlled, updated and maintained by the syndicator -- in this case,
TrueAnthem on behalf of the band.

Social networking sites have completely changed the way we interact with our fans. And, now, TrueAnthem is giving us distribution and syndication through widgets, which let fans download our music and pass it on -- adding an entirely new viral dimension and business opportunity
"Social networking sites have completely changed the way we interact with our fans. And, now, TrueAnthem is giving us distribution and syndication through widgets, which let fans download our music and pass it on -- adding an entirely new viral dimension and business opportunity," said Ultraviolet Sound lead singer Sarah Hudson. "This is powerful for any artist -- but for us, as an emerging band, it allows our music to be heard by our fans and whomever they decide to share it with. With TrueAnthem, our 'friends' can support the band in a meaningful way."

TrueAnthem Widgets are sleek. Proprietary technology captures data associated with total exposure, such as views, song listening data as well as demographic data and song downloads. An artist's song can be streamed, as well as downloaded for listening offline. The fan chooses between two download formats: a free song with an embedded TrueAD or an ad-free version for .99 cents.

"We add the secret sauce for emerging bands, such as Ultraviolet Sound. Whether they've had an established connection with their fans on social networking sites or they have just established a presence -- the TrueAnthem widget adds an unprecedented viral marketing tool. They connect, their fans download their music, the band makes money needed to keep making music, and advertisers have a measurable viral vehicle," said Brad Barnes, TrueAnthem CEO.

Each free download contains a "TrueAD." TrueADs are 8-second jingles recorded by the artist typically at the beginning of each song, which engages the fan in a fun way. "What's up? This is Brad from Ultraviolet Sound and you are listening to one of my favorite tracks called 'Brainwashed' brought to you by Initium Eyewear." There are three parts: First, the artist announces their name or the name of their band, then they announce the title of the song, and finally they state the name of the brand. Ad-free songs are available for .99 cents.

The Ultraviolet Sound TrueAnthem Widget will be available for grabbing and placing on popular social networking sites by going to www.TrueAnthem.com and www.MySpace.com/Ultravioletsound.
