Saskatoon, Sask., Canada (PRWEB) June 26, 2007 -- Faced with power bills that can range upwards of $300 per month, pool owners have long sought an alternative to the exorbitant costs of heating their favorite recreational facility - their back yard pool.
Now, that option is available in the form of sunlight. The potential of energy from the sun has been effectively captured in the solar heating systems introduced to the Canadian market by Saskatoon-based WSE Technologies.
Rigorous testing has proved that prairie sunlight provides sufficient BTU's of energy that the majority of heating requirements for pools can be accommodated through solar. Five solar panels, which sell for $299 each, are sufficient to provide the needed heat for the majority of pools.
When the heating power of the sun is collected through WSE Technologies' highly efficient solar systems, in which the panels capture at least 80% of the total solar energy available, electrical power need only be used as a backup or to augment heating requirements. A series of twenty vacuum heat collecting pipes are contained within a heating panel. Each panel is capable of delivering over 30,000 BTU's of energy in the summer.
The power of solar doesn't end with warm weather, however. Having tested the systems extensively in the cold temperatures of a prairie winter, WSE Technologies has confirmed the applicability of solar heating for hot tubs as well. Even in weather conditions that were consistently in the -20 Celsius degree range and dipping as low as -40 Celsius, the use of two panels converted solar energy into heat to the point that hot tub operating expenses in winter were reduced to a fraction of their previous cost.
WSE Technologies holds the Canadian distribution rights for the patented panels which are also being introduced into a range of household applications including home heating and other multi-season applications.
