360 Replays announced today that they have successfully completed development of a 40 camera, 3D sports replay system known as VantEDGE technology that can be used to capture and playback live video from many angles during sports events.
Brandon, MB (PRWeb) March 20, 2007 -- 360 Replays announced today that they have successfully completed development of a 40 camera, 3D sports replay system known as VantEDGE technology that can be used to capture and playback live video from many angles during sports events.
“The system has undergone many tests including feasibility studies in hockey and boxing, and we plan on taking this to the next level in Las Vegas this year.” said Michael Brown, chief software architect at 360 Replays and creator of the technology. “We’ve started to put the wheels in motion to develop the same technology in HD, and plan on targeting major indoor sports this year to utilize the exciting possibilities this system offers in terms of analyzing goals, and a concept called digital refereeing.”
“We see this as a major milestone in bringing together the current need for more accurate video playbacks in many sports, as well as a new way for spectators to view the sport,” said Dean Esler, chief technology officer at 360 Replays. “By combining the ability to record enormous amounts of video with 3D data processing, we are able to provide views from almost any angle which is both entertaining to the viewer, and important to game officials.”
“This product is expected to revolutionize how sports will be viewed by millions of fans around the world, especially those who have grown up with 3D gaming technologies,” said George McLeod, VP of marketing. “Users of the system will be excited to learn how easy it is to operate, along with the fact it can be operated with only 2 people.”
360 Replays continues to develop 3D playback technology in association with its many partners. The new technology will be demonstrated at the National Association of Broadcasters 2007 annual trade show in Las Vegas, NV April 16-19.
