IMA nominations are submitted from around the world by web design firms, advertising agencies and corporate marketing departments, as well as individual web designers and graphic artists. Judges from leading companies, including American Express, Cadbury Schweppes, Deutsche Bank Asset Management and Microsoft, evaluated websites based on design, usability, standards compliance, content and innovation in technical features. In order to win, the Squarespace site had to meet strict guidelines in each area an achievement only a fraction of sites in the IMA competition earn each quarter.
