PARIS (Business Wire EON) March 24, 2008 -- Arterial Remodeling Technologies (ART) announced today that it has appointed Machiel Van Der Leest as its Chief Operating Officer, effective April 2008. Most recently, Van Der Leest was Director of R&D and Regulatory Affairs since May 2003 at Minvasys, which is focused on bifurcation treatment with dedicated devices.

Given our approach of achieving temporary stenting of a traumatized angioplasty site, we fully expect to benefit greatly from Machiel Van Der Leest's understanding of the development, regulatory, clinical, manufacturing and market dynamics of the stent sector
ART recently leased a manufacturing facility (20,000 square feet) as a result of mastering proprietary polymer-based manufacturing technology to produce bioresorbable stents. The companys bioresorbable stents, which can be manufactured at very low cost, are designed to dismantle in vivo over an optimized time horizon, thus allowing the bodys natural arterial remodeling process to occur, which is normally restricted by the deployment of permanent metallic stents.

Prior to Minvasys, Van Der Leest was Director of R&D for Cathnet-Science (Nycomed Amersham Medical Systems, or NAMS, until July 2000) from Sept. 1999 through May 2003. He joined NAMS in March 1999 as Project Engineer, directing the relocation of the companys manufacturing operations from France to Denmark. He is trilingual (English, French, Dutch) and received a masters degree in Industrial Design Engineering from the Technical Univ. Delft, Netherlands, in 1996.
