OrganicAthlete's Vegan Cycling Team Rides Calfee Bamboo Bikes
I've been riding a bamboo bike for over a year now. I can honestly say it's the best riding bike I've ever had.

Sebastopol, CA (PRWEB) February 19, 2008 -- OrganicAthlete is proud to announce a new partnership with Calfee Design that will see the first elite cycling team riding on the cutting edge Calfee Bamboo Bike. In a unique partnership, OrganicAthlete is teaming up with Calfee to not only ride the bikes, but to co-promote and develop the brand. The result is a team whose message of personal health and social change now manifests in the form of a green, renewable bicycle.

OrganicAthlete, a nonprofit membership organization, started its elite cycling team in 2007 with a focus on vegan athletes - athletes who focus their diets on whole, plant foods and eschew animal products. The team shows though competition that it is not only possible to live on a plant-based diet, but to thrive, even to succeed at the highest level. 5 athletes will be riding the bamboo bikes this year.

Bradley Saul, founder of OrganicAthlete and a category 1 cyclist, is pleased to have the team on the bikes. "I've been riding a bamboo bike for over a year now. I can honestly say it's the best riding bike I've ever had."

Craig Calfee designs his bamboo bike to give an elite bicycle racer everything needed to succeed. With finely mitered bamboo tubing, Calfee binds the frame together with a special hemp-fiber wrap - a natural carbon fiber bike! And the natural strength and resilience of Bamboo gives the frame the lively feel and endless durability heretofore only attributed to carbon fiber.

Beyond the riding virtues of the bike, Bamboo frames come with serious green potential. Bamboo is the darling of the sustainability movement - it is strong and renewable and beautiful. Also, since bicycle rely on people power, not petrol-power, the combination of green materials and green transport is irresistible. Add in the further multiplier of plant-based athletes and you have three layers of goodness for the planet rolling down the street. Furthermore, OrganicAthlete is partnering with the nonprofit Trees, Water, and People to ensure all paper use and carbon emissions are offset by their 100% Replanted program.

Come out this season and watch the OrganicAthlete cycling team tearing around races on the west coast on their Calfee Bamboo bikes, and watch the first vision of a new, sustainable future.

Calfee builds all his bicycles in Santa Cruz County, California. The bamboo bike is the culmination of Calfee's relentless focus on building the best bicycle possible. No compromises are made in their construction, and every frame is warranted for 10 years.

The 2008 OrganicAthlete cycling team ensures that all paper use and carbon emissions are offset by the Tree Water, & People. In addition to the Bamboo bikes, the team is sponsored by Alpha Q forks, Cane Creek, SRAM, Ritchey, Fi'zi:k, Schwalbe, and partners with Clif Bar, New Harvest Organics, Melissas, Skin Care for Athletes, Beljum Budder, VegNews Magazine, and Organic Spa Magazine.
